Chandtrataal lake
If you love the landscape of Ladakh, you will definitely love experiencing the same in the heartland of Lahaul and Spiti. A beautiful lake named Chandratal lake is also known as the lake of the moon or the moon lake because of its crescent shape.
Chandratal lake Location
At an elevation of 4300 m in the mighty Himalayas was a trade route, traders from Tibet and Ladakh came to Spiti and Kullu valley. The lake is situated 9km from the Kunzum pass at a height of 4590-metre height. From the pass, you can see the mighty Chandrabhaga mountain range and Bara Shigri glacier, the second largest glacier after the Gangotri.
The color of the lake keeps changing throughout the day. Sometimes it’s blue from reddish to orange to blue to emerald green. Chandratal lake, the source of Chandra river (a tributary of the Chenab river) is also one of two high-altitude wetlands of India that have been designated as Ramsar sites.
Chandratal Lake Trek
There is also a trek that starts from Chandratal and goes to Baralacha pass. it passes through snow-clad peaks of Minar, Talagiri, Tara Pahar, and Mulkila are over 6000 meters high in the sky. The trek is organized between July and October.

How to reach
By road: Reach Manali by bus from Delhi. It’s a 12-hour journey. From Manali, you can board a bus or taxi early in the morning. HRTC, a state transport of Himachal operates a bus on this route.
By air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar airport. Bhuntar is well connected to Manali by taxi or bus.
