History and Architecture of Rani Padmini Palace

The wife of King Rawal Ratan Singh, Rani Padmini, was renowned for her exceptional beauty and grace.  The beautiful Padmini Palace witnesses the bravery, sacrifice, and tragedies associated with the legendary queen. Padmini Palace stands as a testament to the gallantry of the Rajput warriors and their unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. 

The tale of her story was mentioned in the epic poem Padmavati,” composed by Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540 CE.  To see her unparalleled beauty, Ala-ud-din Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi, sought to catch a glimpse of her. 

Padmini Palace is a three-story white structure that is surrounded by an enchanting lotus pool. That creates a picturesque view. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the park while admiring the architectural marvels. The innovative design and strategic layout of Padmini Palace have inspired numerous structures in the region.

Agra fort Connection

One interesting fact associated with this palace is the bronze gate. These gates were looted by Emperor Akabar and transported to Agra Fort. Today it can be seen as a captivating attraction on the premises of Agra fort

When visiting Padmini Palace, there are several other attractions in the vicinity that are worth exploring. The Chittorgarh Fort itself is a vast complex with many historical sites to discover. Additionally, the nearby Kumbha Palace and Chittorgarh Railway Station provide convenient access to Padmini Palace. The palace is open to visitors from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is situated within the fort complex.
