Patwon ki haveli is located near famous places, 500 meters from the Jaisalmer Fort and 1.5 km from the Jaisalmer Railway Station. History and Architecture of Patwon ki Haveli

Patwon Ki Haveli is a significant landmark that has the distinction of being the first haveli ever constructed in Jaisalmer. It’s a cluster of five interconnected mansions that were constructed by a prominent trader of his time, Guma Chand Patwa, in 1805 CE. Showcasing the wealth and property of the Patwa family, the mansion was dedicated to one of Guman Chand Patwa’s five sons. 

Yellow sandstone-carved Jharokas are evident in every facet of the architecture. A five-story structure divided into six apartments speaks about the grandeur of the haveli. It’s exquisite artwork and intricate designs showcase the artistic brilliance of the craftsmen of that era. 

Offering a glimpse into the lives of the erstwhile inhabitants, an apartment is adorned with flawlessly painted murals. The walls of the Havelis are adorned with mirrorwork and numerous paintings. 


Haveli houses a museum that has been among the five haveli’s that constitute the complex. It provides an opportunity to delve deeper into the rich history and culture of Jaisalmer. Antique and decorative furniture transport you to a bygone era. The museum has a vast collection of antique furniture and decorative artifacts. 

Patwon ki Haveli is maintained by the state government for various official purposes. Patwon ki Havel serves as a repository for traditional art and crafts created by local artisans, showcasing their exceptional skills. 

Entry fees and Timing

Patwon ki Haveli is open to visitors from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., allowing ample time to explore its grandeur and beauty. The entry fee for Indians is Rs. 20, while foreigners are charged Rs. 100. If you wish to capture the memories of this awe-inspiring place, a camera fee of Rs. 50 is applicable.
