About Kurumgad island
This tortoise-shaped island is one of the five islands in this region; the other four islands are Devbagh, Sanyasi, Anjadip, and Oyster. The island is now privately owned and belongs to a coffee planter, Suresh Mathias.
Shaped in the form of a tortoise, Kurumgad of Koormagad island is located 4 km from the coast of Karwar in the Arabian Sea. Palm trees along the coastline look soothing to the eyes.
Attraction at Kurumgad or Koormagad Island
Narasimha Temple at Hilltop is a famous tourist attraction that is dedicated to Lord Narsimha. One has to trek to the top of the hill to reach the temple. Every year on Pushya Purnima, an annula jatra is held where thousands of devotees from Goa and Karnataka come to offer prayers.
