About Galagnatha Temple
Built in the beginning of the 8th century, Galagnatha Temple is a beautiful Hindu temple that is located inside the Pattadakal temple complex. Its situated ahead of Sangameshwara temple
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva with a linga inside the temple sanctum. In Nagara style of architecture, the temple consists of a mantapa, a vestibule, and a sanctum. Nandi sits at the entrance of the temple, while the river goddesses of Ganga and Yamuna sit at the entrance of Mantapa.
The temple, mostly in a ruined state, has somewhat remains. On the southern side, there is an eight-armed shiva killing the demon Andhaka. He wears a garland of skulls as a yajonapavita (sacred thread across the chest).
