About Gurkha fort, Kasauli
Depicting the role of courage and chivalry among Gurkha warriors, Gurkha Fort is a great place to visit for history enthusiasts. At an altitude of 4500 feet, the fort is situated on a small hillock near Kasauli. The fort now comes under the cantonment area of Subath.
You can reach the fort, which is surrounded by dense forest and connected to Parawanoo by National Highway 22.
From a historical perspective, the fort played an important role in the conflicts between the Gurkhas and the British forces. To resist the British army , Gurkha army chief Amar Singh Thapa built the fort around 1900 AD.
Inside the fort, there is a cannon that is believed to be 181 years old and a Gurkha museum exhibiting sculptures that show the courage and chivalry of Gurkha warriors. For history enthusiasts and those seeking a connection with the past, Gurkha Fort is a must-visit villa near Kasauli.
