About Guru gorakhnath Cave
Situated in the heart of Srinagar town, Guru Gorakhnath Cave is a place where Guru Gorakhnath meditated and met his disciples.
The cave is at the foot of a small mountain, in the courtyard of a house that lies opposite Shankar Math.As you enter the cave, an image of Gorakhnath has been installed.
The followers of Gorakh panths (followers of Gorakhnath) in the Nath section maintain and look after the place.
Since ancient times, Srinagar town has been considered a town of the gods. When Shankaracharya visited the place, he considered Srinagar an ideal place for Shiva Puja in a cave.Similarly, Guru Gorakhnath meditated and took Samadhi to the place that was later called Guru’s Cave.
According to Atrikson, in 1667, the tomb was built. But a copper plate lying with the priest states that in 1677, Samadhi was renovated.
