Situated in the heart of Srinagar, Uttarakhand, Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple According to the legend, at this place, Lord Rama started worshipping Shiva with a lotus after the epic war was over. He prayed for the casualties that happened due to the war.

But one day, Shiva decided to put his devotion to the test and plucked one lotus from the group.When Rama noticed,one of the lotus was missing. Then he offered one of his eyes to the Lord. Impressed by devotion, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of a person and stopped Rama from doing this act. After this incident, Sri Rama is known as ‘kamalashwar’ or the lotus eyed.

There is another interesting story that further explains the divine powers of the temple. In 1894, a huge flood wiped out Srinagar due to an increase in the water in Lake Rose, but the temple remains undamaged.

The best time to visit the temple is during Vaikunth Chaturdashi, which falls in the month of November. It’s considered auspicious for couples praying for fertility.
