Historical Significance of Pichola Lake
Pichola Lake was constructed in 1362 AD by Pichhu Banjara, a gypsy Banjara tribesman who transported grain. He created a water reservoir to ensure a water supply for the inhabitants. However, its importance and charm were recognized by Maharana Udai Singh, who decided to establish the city of Udaipur on its banks. He enlarged the lake and increased the lake’s capacity by constructing a stone masonry dam in the Badi Pol region.
