About Taragarh Fort
Taragarh Fort is part of the rich historical heritage of Ajmer. Situated atop the Nagpahri Hills, it is one of the oldest in India and a prominent sightseeing destination in Ajmer. The fort is located at a distance of 3.5 km from the Ajmer Junction Railway station.
History
After the construction, the fort came under the attack of muslim armies led by caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik. During this time, the king Durlabhraj I was ruling the region and didn’t receive the help of other rajput rulers. On seeing the loss is inevitable, the queen of King Durlabhraj 1 performed the Jauhar and laid down her life.
In the 15th century, Prithviraj, son of Rana Raimal of Mewar and elder brother of Rana Sanga captured the fort after slaying Governor Mallu Khan.
Architecture

Inside the fort, there is a shrine dedicated to Miran Saheb ki Dargah, who lost his life in 1202 during a Rajput attack.
Reaching Taragarh Fort
There are two options to reach Taragarh Fort: either opt for a jeep ride or embark on a 1.5-hour climb starting beyond Adhai din ka Jhonpra Mosque. At the top , you will leave awe-inspired by watching the exceptional panoramic view of Ajmer.
Visiting Information
Timings: The fort is open from 9 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., allowing visitors ample time to explore its historical grandeur.
