Bhangarh, one of India’s famous forts, is situated in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. Haunting and paranormal tales have made the Bhangarh Fort one of India’s most haunted places. In this article, we will delve into the historical significance and haunting tales of the Bhangarh Fort.

Reflecting the grandeur of the Mughal era, Bhangarh Fort was established in 1613, by Mandho Singh, who was the son of Mughal General Man Singh of Amber. During the reign of Bhagwant Das, the town around the Bhangarh Fort grew.

The Haunting Legends of Bhangarh Fort

There are numerous haunting and paranormal tales that revolve around the Bhangarh fort. One legend says a magician named Guru Balu Nath allowed the construction of the town on the condition that the shadows of the palace would not touch him. However, unknowingly, when the height of the palace is raised by Ajab Singh, the son of Madho Singh, it leads to the destruction of Bhangarh. Still, it is believed that Guru Balu Nath’s spirit lives inside the fort.

Another story says once a Tantrik fell in love with a princess, Ratnavati of Bhangarh. However, after failing, Tantrik, in jealousy and rage, destroyed the entire area. Some ghost experiences reported by locals and visitors have also given rise to the fort’s haunted expedition.

The Enigmatic Architecture of Bhangarh Fort

Bhangarh Fort is in dilapidated condition, and its remnants speak of its past glory. Entry to the fort is through four gates: Phulbari Gate, Ajemeri Gate, Lahori Gate, and Delhi Gate. Inside the fort complex, you will find the dancer’s haveli and Jaurhari Bazar. An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Someshwar, Keshava Rai, and Mangala Devi, situated on the top of hills, looks beautiful.
