About Candolim beach
Located in North Goa, Candolim Beach is situated between Sinquerim and Calangute beaches. The beach is known for its wide stretch of golden sand, vibrant nightlife, and relaxed yet lively atmosphere.
Story of Sunken ship
In 2000, a large ship named MV River Princess ran aground near Candolim. It partially submerged during the 2001 monsoon. During the course of time, the ship becomes an accidental landmark, attracting visitors for photographs. Many attempts were made by authorities to revive it but failed, and finally it was removed in 2015.
Historical connection
Candolim Beach is considered to be the first place where Goan launched the first revolt against the Portuguese. It was also the first region to adopt Christianity under Portuguese rule.
It was also the place where the founder of the science of hypnotism, Father Abbe Faria, was born.
Other attraction Nearby
The biggest attraction nearby is Fort Aguda. A 17th-century Portuguese fort was built to defend against Dutch and Maratha invaders.
