About Tilmati Beach
Tilmati, or black sand beach, is one of the most beautiful beaches located in Majali village of Karnataka. The word “tilmati” comes from the Konkani words ’tillu’, which means sesame seeds, and’matti’, which means soil.
A black colour of the sand is due to coarse black sand of basaltic rock. Further making black, the Arbian sea dumbbed back the black sand brought by the river Kali.

Spread over an area of 200 m, the beach is an ideal destination for different types of activities. Its an ideal destination for a picnic with family. Several recreational activities like kayaking, rowing, rock climbing, and pedalling are perfect for adventure lovers.
