It’s been the primary source of water for Jaisalmer since ancient times. In this article, we will delve into the enchanting world of Gadisar Lake, its history, activities, and attractions.

History of Gadisar Lake

Water scarcity has existed in the arid region since ancient times. To cater to the water needs of the entire town, the first ruler of Jaisalmer constructed a rainwater lake. He faced several challenges in its construction, and finally, Maharawal Gadsi Singh made significant changes to the lake and completed it in the year 1367 AD. Today, the lake is a reliable water source for the whole city. The lake receives water from the Indira Gandi Canal, ensuring it continues in the summer.
