About Harangi Dam
Harangi Dam is built across a small stream that serves as a tributary to the Cauvery River. With a length of 846 meters and a height of 47 meters, the Haranai dam captivates visitors against the backdrop of Coorg’s natural beauty.
Especially during the monsoon season, the dam attracts a large number of crowds when the gates are opened to release cascades of water.
Haranagi Dam has a large, vast reservoir spreading across several acres. Inside the reservoir, there is a temple named Chamudeshwari. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Paravathi. Adding a touch of spiritual significance, the temple also features a stone statue of Goddess Cauvery.
Best Time to Visit
The period from August to October is considered the optimal time to visit Harangi Dam. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the surroundings are adorned with the lush greenery brought by the monsoon.
Visiting Hours
Harangi Dam welcomes visitors from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing ample time to explore the scenic beauty and enjoy the peaceful ambiance.
