About Iruppu Waterfall
Iruppu Waterfalls, nestled in the Brahamagiri Hills, is a beautiful waterfall to visit in the Corrg district of Karnataka. Also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, it is believed to have been formed by Lakshmana thritha , a stream created by Lakshmana’s arrow as Lord Rama’s brother searched for water during their quest for Sita.
Irupu waterfall beckons travelers with its majestic cascade when it plunges from a height of 190 feet in a series of stages. Offering a harmonious coexistence with the thick forest of the western ghats, it offers a tranquil escape.
Rameshwara Temple
The Rameshwara temple along the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the legend, Lord Rama has installed Shiva Lingam in the sacred abode.
The temple is situated at the entry points to Iruppu Falls and Brahmagiri Hills. From the temple, there is a 15–20-minute path that passes through lush forest to reach the Iruppu waterfall.
Trekking route
On the way to Irrupu waterfall , a trek to Brahmagiri Peak goes on. For the adventure enthusiast who loves to go trekking, this is an excellent opportunity. The trek passes through Narimale forest and then onward to the Brahmagiri peak. Prior permission from the forest department is required for this immersive trekking experience.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit the Iruppu Falls is during the monsoon season, when the flow of water is at its peak.
Timings: The falls welcome visitors from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
