About Ranipuram
A perfect blend of evergreen shola wood , expansive grasslands, and rain forest, Ranipuram National Park, also known as Madathumalai, is a picturesque hill station in the Kasorgood district of Kerala.
The park is spread over an area of 50 square kilometers and has diverse flora and fauna. Park-rich biodiversity consists of leopards, porcupines, elephants , butterflies, and especially the Malabar squirrels.
Trekking in Ranipuram
For adventure lovers, Ranipuram National Park offers many trekking trails to explore the region. A famous trek to the hill summit known as Mani can be covered in 45 minutes. Once you reach the top, you get a view of an expensive green valley. Talacauvery and Kottagiri are other trekking trails in the region that can be covered.
Inside the national park, there is a religious gem named Palakkunnu Bhagavath Temple. It provides a serene setting for spiritual speakers in the midst of the natural beauty of Ranipuram.

The best experience of Ranipuram’s culture is available during the month of March. Bharani Maholsavan is celebrated.

If you want a comfortable stay amid nature, then you can opt for the tourist cottage situated on the hilltop. These cottages are managed by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.

November to March is considered the ideal period to explore Ranipuram, with pleasant weather and lush landscapes.
Trekking Caution The trekking paths can be slippery, and visitors are advised to exercise caution. Wearing long socks and carrying salt helps ward off leeches commonly found in the area.

Nestled 55 km from Kasaragod and sharing its border with Karnataka, Ranipuram stands as a picturesque hill station in the Kasaragod district of Kerala.
Transportation: Ranipuram can be reached via Kanhangad and Panathady. Panathady, approximately 9 km from the hill station, serves as a starting point for jeep services to Ranipuram. A bus service from Kanhangad is also available in the late afternoon.
