About Rishya Shringeshwara Temple
Rishya Shringeshwara Temple is a beautiful temple located in the picturesque village of Kigga. The village is graced by the gentle flow of the Nadini River, a tributary of Tunga. The spiritual significance and architectural beauty of the temple make it a must-visit place for visitors.
Constructed during the Vijayanagar temple, the temple is believed to mark the spot where the sage Rishyasringa was absorbed in celestial light. It has been believed that the sage Rishyasringa brought relief during the drought period.
Unique Linga: The temple houses a distinctive linga with three protuberances resembling horns. Worshiping this linga is believed to avert famine in the surrounding land, extending to a distance of 12 yojanas.
Festivals
During Chaitra Masa (March or April), an annual Rathotsavam is held in the temple, which is attended by thousands of devotees.
