There are a number of hill stations that can be found in Uttarakhand. Earlier known by the name “Kalundanda,” which means black hill in Garhwali, Lansdowne, in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, is a popular hill station that was founded by the British in 1997.

The location was the headquarters of the Garhwal rifles, a British Indian army regiment. They shifted the first battalion from Almora to Lansdowne.  British-established Garhwal rifles cantonment During World War I, many soldiers were trained at this place. It was a strategic location to hide, closer to the northern plains.  After Independence, Lansdowne became a training center for the Indian army. Rich with natural beauty It’s a great place to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and camping in the surrounding hills and forest.

Darwan Singh Museum

Darwan Singh Negi, a soldier who fought in World War I and received the Victoria Cross for his bravery, is the subject of the museum. It’s a two-story building that was established in 1923. The museum, also known as the Garhwal Rifle Memorial, showcases various weapons, uniforms, and other artifacts from the Garhwal Rifles.

It’s a set of two large rocks that are placed one on top of the other. It’s been said that rocks are balanced by the divine powers of Bhim the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
