Rankala lake is a picturesque lake marked by its natural beauty and serene environment. The lake is one of the must-visit places in Kolhapur. At a distance of 2 km from Sri Mahalakshmi Ambabai Temple and 4 km from Kolhapur Railway Station, the place is easily accessible.
History and Construction
Rankala lake was constructed by the late Maharajah, Shri Shahu Chhatrapati. The lake holds a rich historical significance and is believed to be linked directly to a well in Panhala Fort, which Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is believed to have crossed. This picturesque water body is not just a product of human engineering but also of natural forces. It has a circumference of 4.5 miles and a depth of 35 feet.

Rankala Tower and Rajghat
