Peaceful ambiance with lush greenery the beach is also referred to as “Mini Goa.” The beach is a favoured destination for picnics, weekend retreats, and spiritual getaways, thanks to its tranquil atmosphere and picturesque surroundings.
History
The beach is surrounded by a rich culture and historical background influenced by Portuguese and Maharashtrian cultures. In the colonial era, the region was under Portuguese rule, whose impact is visible on the architecture and lifestyle of the local communities. Many houses look inspired by Portuguese-style designs. The Indigenous fishing community, Koli fishing, has been traditionally living here. Their practice of age-old traditions and ways of life takes you back in time.
Geography
The beach is situated on the western coast of Mumbai along the Arabian sea. Near the Malad and Bhayandar regions, it’s separated from the city’s main area by a creek and dense mangrove forest.
When you walk on soft golden sand with gentle waves coming back and forth, you feel relaxed. Surrounding features include scattered rocks, coconut groves, casuarina trees, and a scenic coastline.
Manori Beach connects to the famous nearby Gorai and Marve beaches. All these beaches make it a popular coastal circuit for travelers.
How to Reach
Manori Beach is easily accessible from various parts of Mumbai. Here are the different ways to reach us:
By Road Visitors can drive to Manori Beach via Malad or Bhayandar. The journey from Mumbai city centre takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Private cars, taxis, and rental cabs are convenient options for those travelling by road.
By Ferry: A popular and scenic route to Manori Beach is via the ferry service from Marve Beach in Malad. The ferry ride takes around 15 minutes and provides a quick and enjoyable way to reach the destination. Auto-rickshaws and local transport are available from the ferry point to the beach.
By Train The nearest railway station is Malad on the Western Line of Mumbai’s suburban railway network. From Malad, travelers can take an auto-rickshaw or a bus to Marve Beach and then board a ferry to Manori.
