History of Achalgarh Fort
Achalgarh Fort was believed to have been constructed by the rulers of the Paramara dynasty. In 1452 CE, the fort underwent renovation and beautification under the guidance of Mewar. Fort helps safeguard the region and monitor the movements of potential adversaries.
Architecture of Achalgarh Fort
Offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape, Achalgarh Fort is perched atop a mountain peak. Hanumanpol Gate is the place where you enter the fort. Two blocks of gray granite form two towers that are adjacent to the gateway. Access to the inner fort is through the second gate, called Champapol.
Inside the fort, there is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva called Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple. The temple houses a magnificent Nandi idol made of copper, silver, gold, brass, and zinc. The idol weighs over 4 tons and stands as a testament to the craftsmanship of the artisans. Creating a serene and picturesque environment, adjacent to the temple is a pond with three stone buffaloes.

Apart from the Hindu temples, there is a stunning Jain temple, Kantinath Jain Temple, that offers a captivating visual experience with its exquisite design. The temple was constructed in 1513 CE. Dashavtaar temple is another gem whose entrance resembles a canopy adorned with numerous sculptured statues depicting dance forms of the era.
The other notable feature that lies close to the Ahcalgarh fort is the enchanting Mandaikini Lake. As you wander around the lake, there are popular tourist spots where visitors can soak in the tranquility of nature. There are various depictions of Rajput rulers and various animals adorning the rock.
