Rohtang pass location
The famed Rohtang Pass, located around 42 kilometers from Solang Valley, has an elevation of 3979 meters (13,050 feet) above sea level and is the highest point on the Manali-Keylong route, affording stunning panoramic views.
Time to visit Rohtang pass
This is often the first pass on a road trek from Manali to Ladakh. This pass is blocked from December to April throughout the winter. Due to repairs, the Rohtang Pass is also closed on Tuesdays. Please keep in mind that if you are visiting Rohtang Pass from the Manali side, you must apply for permits at least two days in advance. If you are returning from Ladakh to Manali, no permits are required. Permits are only provided to the first 800 petrol and 400 diesel automobiles.
Permit for Rohtang pass
The permit costs Rs. 750 for cars (Rohtang pass permit: Rs. 500 + Congestion charges: Rs. 50 + Green tax: Rs 200) and Rs. 650 for bikers. You must provide information such as the car number, driver’s name, contact information, and the number of passengers.
Once you have the pass, cars can proceed beyond the barrier on the Manali-Rohtang Pass route only during two-time slots: 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
