About Luturu Mahadev Temple
Situated in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, Luturu Mahadev Temple is a revered religious place. The temple’s high altitude provides an enchanting setting for spiritual connection and scenic appreciation. It’s among the revered pilgrimage sites in Himachal Pradesh that draws pilgrims and travelers seeking spiritual solace. The temple is situated near the Arki fort, which is 38 km away from the Shimla Railway station.
The temple was built by the king of the princely state of Baghal in 1621. According to the legend, King Shiva appeared in the king’s dream and urged the construction of a temple atop the hill. The temple is located inside a cave with a Swayambhu shivling. When sun rays fall and illuminate the Shivling through a circular hole , the temple illuminates.
Devotion and Unique Traditions
During the auspicious festival of Mahashivratri, devotees flock to the sacred place. According to a distinct tradition, devotees offer cigarettes to Lord Shiva. It is believed that it is accepted by Bholenath.
