Rudraprayag is a famous town that is located at the confluence of two rivers: Mandakini from Kedarnath and Alaknanda from Badrinath. At the confluence, the water turbulence is usually high, and water chains are installed to take baths.

Rudraprayag is located at the junction of Pauri, Tehri, and Chamoli.

We read stories about Rudraprayag in Jim Corbett’s book. Rudraprayag is turned into a place of man-eating leopards. In eight years, spanning from 1918 to 1926, leopards hunted down more than 300 people.

At this same confluence, a flight of stairs takes you up to a temple known as the Jagadamba Devi Temple. The temple is dedicated to the deity Durga.

A monument stands on that historic spot, and there is an inscription that says, “On this very spot was killed the man-eating leopard of Rudraprayag by Jim Corbett on May 1, 1926, at 10 a.m.”
