Triguni Temple is an ancient Hindu temple that is situated in Triyugnaryan village, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. The temple dedicated to the Vishnu god is believed to have been constructed by Adi Shankaracharya.
The temple is also known as the Akhand Dhuni temple because of the perpetual flame burning from the Shiva and Parvati marriage.
During Satyug, Triyugnarayan was the capital of Himavat, or Himavan, the personification of the Himalayas. Parvati was the daughter of Himavan; she was considered the rebirth of Sati, who was the first wife of Shiva. She sacrificed her life for Shiva when her father insulted her.
At first, Parvati tried to allure Shiva for marriage, but she wasn’t successful. At last, she practiced rigorous penance at Gaurikund and won Shiva.
The temple architecture is similar to Kedarnath. In the vicinity of the temple, there are three kunds named Rudra kund, Vishnu kund, and Brahma kund. The Kunds are believed to be the place where Shiva and Parvati bathed during their marriage. Water in these kunds flows from the Saraswati kund, which is supposed to be flowing directly from Vishnu’s navel. Those women who don’t have children often take a dip in these kunds
