If you are a nature lover and looking for a place in Chandigarh, Butterfly Park in Sector 26 is a good option. It was inaugurated in 2012 by Shri kk Shara (IAS)
On the western end of the park, a small pond with a lotus blooming and water hens can be easily spotted. The butterfly park is home to 35 species of butterflies. The park is well-maintained and surrounded by lush green grass, tall trees, and colorful flowers. Some of the species that can be spotted here include the Common Mormon, Blue Mormon, Lime Butterfly, Painted Lady, Great Eggfly, and Common Rose, among others.
The plants are rich in flowering plants that attract butterflies. The common flowering plants that are found in Lantana camara, Buddleja davidii,Tabernaemontana divaricata, Gomphrena globosa, Pentas lanceolata
Hamelia patens, Duranta repens, Ixora coccinea, and Ruellia tuberosa. After the winter is over and butterflies come out of hibernation in the months of March to October. It’s also the best time to visit the park.
