About Topiary Park
Topiary Garden, located in Sector 35A , Chandigarh, is beloved by families with children and nature lovers. A lesser-known and not-as-famous place as Rock Garden or Sokhna Lake has its own quirky character and peaceful ambiance. The garden is located in a well-planned residential sector with wide roads, green belts, and nearby cafes. Easily accessible from all major parts of the city, the park is a popular local hangout in Chandigarh.
The park was established in 1987 by the Bush and Crepper families.
In gardening, the art of shaping shrubs and plants into ornamental plants is called topiary, and this is how Park is named.
What’s Special About It?
The Topiary Garden is dedicated entirely to shaping and sculpting plants into whimsical animal forms — a practice known as topiary art. Live green sculptures of animals like elephants, deer, bears, rabbits, and more made from shrubbery and trimmed hedges. The shapes are created using plants such as Duranta, Ficus, Juniper, and Cypress. It’s like a living sculpture park — entertaining for kids and artistic for adults.
Why Kids Love It
- It feels like walking through a fantasy animal forest.
- Many animals are shaped in playful, cartoonish forms.
- Safe, enclosed environment with open space to run around.
Other parks in Chandigarh are made of some themes. The rock garden is made of waste material, whereas the rose garden spreads the perfume of roses. There is a cactus garden that speaks about the different worlds of cacti. It gives information about the harsh environment of the desert and how such plants survive in such an environment.
