Cactus garden near Chandigarh—yes, you read that correctly, a 7-acre cactus garden. Located inside the botanical garden in the Panchkula district houses 272 species of the genus Mammillaria and 160 plant species, including Aloe speciosa and Aloe ferox. Cactus is a unique plant that can be found all over the world in over 2,000 different shapes and sizes. Cacti used to live in dry areas, and in order to survive such harsh conditions, they modified their leaves into spines to prevent water loss. It stores large amounts of water in stems and roots to use in photosynthesis. Due to the water storage in their stems, these plants are also called succulent plants.

It was designed by Js Sarkaria. The garden is designed to display different styles of bonsai. Nine glasshouses showcase different varieties of cacti.
