About Chanderi Handloom Park
Chanderi Handloom Park was established in 2010. It was established under the Integrated Handloom Cluster Development Scheme by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.The park also promotes handloom tourism, where visitors come to see the weaving process and interact with artisans.
The historic town of Chanderi, known for its centuries-old tradition of weaving, is situated in the Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh.Chanderi fabric is protected under the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag to safeguard its authenticity and heritage.
Chanderi Handloom Park was established with the aims of preserving the rich legacy of Chanderi weaving and providing modern infrastructure, training, and marketing support to the weaver community. The handloom supports over 3,500 handloom weavers directly or indirectly. The facility is equipped with modern dyeing units , advanced looms, design studios, a quality testing lab , a common facility centre (CFC), and storage facilities. Chanderi sarees , fabrics, and dupattas made from silk and cotton blends are exported as Chanderi products to international markets. The Handloom Park helps facilitate market linkages to weavers through exhibitions, fairs, and tie-ups with e-commerce platforms.
Timing
The park is open from 9 am to 8 pm to the visitors.
