About Chang Chenmo River
Originating from China-adminstered Kashmir, the Chang Chenmo River is a tributary of the Shyok River. It originates from the Lanka-La pass, passes through Konka pass, and finally joins the Shyok river. In the Tibetan language, Chang Chenmo means great northern.
Chanchenmo river flow is surrounded by glacier all around and carry large amount of sediments with it. It descend to Ladakh, while crossing the Karakoram range. In the month of winter, the river freeze due to low temperature while in summer the amount of water increases in the river.
Changchemo Valley is remote and supports very little vegetation. Human poupulatioin is negligible, with one of the few settlements like Pamzal situated along the bank.
