Astore valley
Astore Valley, 120 km long with an area of 5,000 kmsq, is located in the north of Pakistan, in Gilgit-Baltistan state. The valley is at the eastern face of Nanga Parbat, a peak 8,125 m high, often called the Killer Mountain, as it is considered one of the most dangerous mountains in the world to climb.
Rugged terrain, lush meadows, and serene lakes all come in a pack when you visit the Astore Valley. In the Diamer division of Gilgit-Baltistan, the valley is drained by river indus and surrounded by the ninth highest peak known as Nanga Parvat, also known as Killer Mountain.
You can pursue multiple activities, like trekking, mountaineering, fishing campaigns, etc.
Astore History
The word Astore is derived from the Sankrit word “Astara,” which means the place where horses are bred. The Astore valley serves as a trade route from the Indian subcontinent to Central Asia, passing through several important towns like Skardu and Gilgit.
Culture in Astore Valley
Astore Valley is an amalgamation of Dardic, Islamic, and Kashmiri cultures. People living in the valley are known for their warhospitality. . Shina Lanugage, which is quite spoken in the valley, is a part of Dardic language.
