Overview and History
A most vibrant trade fair, Gwalior Trade Fair is one of the largest fairs in Madhya Pradesh. Located at a distance of 2.5 km away from Gwalior junction the place is easily accessible across India. One of the most vibrant fairs in North India, the fair is initiated in 1905 by Maharaja Madhav Rao Scindia who once ruled this place.
The Gwalior trade fair is held in a renowned Mela ground that is also known as Pragati Madian situated on the Race Course road. The nodal agency of the government of Madhya Pradesh, the Gwalior Trade fair authority {GTFA) is responsible for organizing the trade fair. They have successfully organized a fair that gained international acclaim. In the entire month of December, the fair commences and captivates visitors around the world.
Numerous pavilions and sectors are organized across an impressive 104 acres. It hosts more than 500 platforms and thousand of kiosks for national, multinational, and governmental agencies. The different array of products are showcased ranging from clothing, apparel, luggage, industry products, leather products, home appliances, furniture, and metal wares. Potential buyers flock from all over India to buy a product of their choice.
Apart from this, Cattle trade fairs remain an integral part of the Gwalior where 10,000 animals are brought and sold each year. Several cultural shows and activities are organized that offer an eclectic blend of culture and entertainment. Hasya Kavi Sammelan, Mushairas, and Kavvali competitions increase the color and vibrancy of the Gwalior trade fair. For young ones, amusement rides, magic shows, and giant wheels offer a delight.
