Kullu

Kullu lies at an altitude of approximately 1,279 meters (4,196 feet) in the Kullu Valley, surrounded by the Himachal Himalayas. The Beas River flows through the valley, creating fertile plains ideal for agriculture and horticulture, particularly apples and plums.

Summer (March–June): Pleasant and ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities (20–35°C).

Monsoon (July–September): Moderate to heavy rainfall; landslides can occur in hilly areas.

Winter (October–February): Cool and sometimes cold, temperatures ranging from 0–15°C, occasionally with snowfall in higher areas.

History and Culture

Kullu has a rich cultural and spiritual heritage, with roots tracing back to ancient Hindu mythology. It is home to numerous temples, such as Raghunath Temple and Bijli Mahadev Temple, and hosts vibrant festivals like Dussehra, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and attracts visitors from all over the country.

The local culture is influenced by Himachali traditions, folk music, and dance. The valley is also famous for its handicrafts, woolens, and wooden artifacts, reflecting the artisanal skills of its residents.

The best time to visit Kullu is March to June and September to November. These months offer pleasant weather, ideal for sightseeing, adventure activities, and trekking.

Winter (December–February): Suitable for snow lovers, but higher altitude areas may be inaccessible.

Monsoon (July–August): Scenic greenery but risky for travel due to potential landslides.
