History of Jaipur Zoo

Jaipur Zoo has a long history it was established in 1877. Jaipur Zoo is divided into two main sections: the animal section and the bird section, along with reptiles. Inside the bird sections, there is a vibrant collection of ducks, swans, parrots, white peacocks, and other numerous feathered friends. It’s a treat for bird enthusiasts. In the animal section, you can observe tortoises, foxes, bears, hyenas, alligators, and deer. 

Crocodile Breeding Farm

Under the efforts of the Central Zoo and the government of Rajasthan, in 1999, a crocodile farm was established in the Jaipur Zoo. It has now become the fourth-largest breeding farm in India and plays a crucial role in the conservation of crocodiles.

Adding to the overall experience, the zoo has a museum inside that provides educational insights into Rajasthan’s rich biodiversity. Information about a diverse range of animals, birds, and reptiles is displayed for visitors’ education. Inside the zoo complex, there are other popular attractions like a greenhouse, an aviary, a herbarium, and a sports ground. 

Timing and Entry fees

The zoo is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A minimal fee of Rs 15 is charged to Indians and Rs 150 to foreigners. There are various sections and attractions within the zoo, so allocate sufficient time.
