History

Dedicated to a different Tirthankara, There are seven Jain temples that date back to the 12th and 15th centuries AD. Built during the medieval era, Intricate engraving and exquisite sculpture look similar to the Dilwara style of architecture. Constructed using Yellow stone, it captivates visitors with its timeless beauty.

Chandraprabhu Temple

Built-in 1509, the Jain temple at Chandraprabhu is dedicated to the eight Tirthanikars. Sculpted pillars form a series of torans that add to its architectural grandeur. The temple’s mandapa is filled with fine sculptures.

Rishabdev Temple

Dedicated to the first Tirthankara and adjacent to the Chandraprabhu temple, Rishabhdev Temple is a beautiful temple. Its walls are adorned with fine sculptures that are exquisitely protected by glass cabinets. Celestial nymphs and gods are exquisitely sculpted on the pillars of the temple. 

Parsvanath Temple

Located adjacent to the Chandraprabhu temple, the Parasavnath temple is dedicated to Jain Tirthankara Sri Parsavanath. For devotees seeking spiritual solace, temples serve as a serene sanctuary. The south side of the temple leads to the Shitalnath temple, which is dedicated to the 10th Tirthankara and features an image composed of eight precious metals. 

Kunthanath temple

The most famous temple among the seven Jain temples is the Kunthanath temple. The architectural splendor is located within the Jaisalmer Fort complex and is a replica of the temple in Hastinapur, the birthplace of Lord Kunthanath. It’s a must-visit destination for tourists and devotees alike. 

Shantinath Temple

Dedicated to Sri Shantinath, the sixteenth Tirthankara, the Shantinath temple was constructed in 1536 AD. Majestically carved the beautiful idol of the saint captivates visitors. The temple architecture further adds to the temple’s grandeur.

To visit the Jain Temples, travelers can take a rickshaw or a shared auto-rickshaw inside the Jaisalmer Fort. The temples are open from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m., allowing ample time to explore their splendor and soak in the spiritual atmosphere.
