Constructed by the queen of the Hoysala Empire’s Veera Ballala, Ballarayana Durga Fort is a famous tourist attraction situated in Karnataka.
Atop a hill, the fort is perched at an altitude of 1509 meters above sea level. The site offers panoramic vistas and picturesque views of the surrounding area. Particularly during the sunset and sunrise, when the landscape bursts into a kaleidoscope of hues.
Trekking Odyssey
The trek to Ballarayana Durga Fort commences from Kalabhairaveshwara Temple at Durgadahalli, approximately 41 km from Mudigere. It passes through the thick vegetation of the western ghats. The challenging trek takes around one and a half hours.

The best time to visit the fort is between November and May. Avoid visiting in the rainy season, when trails become very slippery.
Timings
The best time to visit the fort is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., when there is ample sunshine available. Avoid traveling at night because there is no network at the top.
