About Lotus Mahal

Architecture of Lotus Mahal
Shaped like a half-pen lotus tower, Lotus Mahal is a harmonious blend of Indo-Islamic style. The central dome is crafted in the form of a lotus bud and has equal projection on all sides. Its archway emulates delicate lotus petals, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship. The central tower, which is higher than the rest, adds a touch of grandeur.
Indo-Islamic Fusion
The two-story structure is divided into Hindu-style elements at its base, while the upper structure features Islamic architecture. The recessed and ornate arches of the ground floor, coupled with pyramidal towers rising over the central and corner bays, contribute to its unique charm. The upper floor boasts balconies adorned with arched windows, adding grace to the structure
To support the arches and superstructure of Lotusmahal, there are 24 square pillars to support. Carving and delicate artwork on the wall showcase intricate patterns, makara torana, and depictions of birds.
Cooling Innovations
To avoid Hampi’s scorching summers, the water mahal incorporates water channels on the upper floors and between the arches. It was designed ingeniously to keep the interiors cool.
