About Durga Temple
On the norther bank of the river Kali, Durga Temple, also known as Shanthadurga Temple, is located at the peak of Sadashivgad hill fort in Karwa.
According to local beliefs, it was founded by Raja Shiv Chhatrapati, who gave the right of worship in the temple to the local Bandari family. The temple was constructed in the year 1665 CE. Also there is a beautiful mosque dedicated to Peer Shamsuddin Kharobat that was constructed in front of the temple in the 17th century.

On the way to Durga temple, the visitors can visit the remains of an old fort built by the Sonda Kings. Also, there is an estuary that gives a bird’s-eye view of Karwar, the Arabian Sea, and the Kali River.
Annual fest at the temple
An annual festival is celebrated, praying to the goddess of the locals with great joy and celebration.
