About Anegudde Vinayaka temple
One of the seven ‘Mukti Sthalas” in Karnataka, Anegudde Vinayaka temple, is dedicated to the Lord Ganesh. The name “Anegudde” combines ‘Aane’ (Elephant) and ‘Gudde’ (Hillock), signifying the abode of Lord Vinayaka. The temple is believed to have been created by Sage Parasurama.Inside the temple’s sanctum, there is a majestic standing figure of Lord Vinayaka, adorned with silver armor.
Mythology of Anegudde Vinayaka temple
In another mythological story, the temple is linked to the demon Kumbhasura. Sage Agastya, during the drought, was performing a penance to appease the rain god. Lord Kumbhasura tried to disrupt the process, which angered Lord Ganesha. He gave a weapon to Bheema to defeat him at Anegudde.
Also known as Kumbashi, the name is linked to the demon Kumbhasura. Legend has it that Sage Agasthya, during a drought, performed penance to appease the Rain God. Demon Kumbhasura disrupted the process, and Lord Ganesha blessed Bheema with a weapon to defeat him at Anegudde.
Major festivals
Festivals are a major attraction at the temple. During Tulabharam, devotees offer to the god a valuable equivalent to their weight. Dedicated to the god Lord Vinayak, Ganesh Chaturthi and Sankashta Chaturthi are major festivals celebrated here. In the month of December, an annual car festival is a major attraction.
