Overview and History of Sahelion Ki Bari
Built-in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh, Sahelion Ki Bari is situated on the serene banks of Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur. It’s a testament to the grandeur and elegance of the royal era that it offers a delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Sahelion ki Bari was constructed as a haven for a group of 48 young women who usually accompanied the prince. Given as a gift, Maharana Sangram Singh envisioned a separate space where these women could indulge in leisure activities and spend leisure time in the beauty of nature.
As you step into the picturesque garden, you will find beautiful pools, exquisite marble pavilions, and elephant-shaped fountains. The distinct sound produced by the gushing water of the lakes is soothing to hear. Water through the water channels creates a harmonious blend with a soothing atmosphere.
Shaelion ki Bari houses a small museum that has a collection of royal artifacts. It includes royal household items, and old photographs that exhibit the royal era of the past. The Pavilion of Rain Fountains is one of the highlights of Sahelion Ki Bari. It was imported from England. Four black kiosks at its corner and a white marbled kiosk at its center. Along with the main reservoir, visitors can marvel at the structure. Evoking the mesmerizing effect of rain, sculpted bird figures are perched atop the kiosks elegantly released water.

The Illusion of Dancing Rain
One of the highlights of Sahelion Ki Bari is the pavilion of rain fountains, a marvel crafted by Maharana Bhupal Singh. With the aim of creating an enchanting spectacle reminiscent of dancing maidens, he imported fountains from England. Visitors can trace these exquisite fountains along with the main reservoir of the garden. The reservoir boasts four black-marbled kiosks at its corners and a white-marbled kiosk at its center. Perched atop these kiosks are sculpted bird figures that elegantly release water from their beaks, evoking the mesmerizing effect of rain.
Timing and Entry fees
Sahelion ki bari is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Whether you are a history enthusiast or a nature lover, Sahelion ki Bari offers a unique destination for visitors. The entry ticket for visitors is Rs 20 per person.
