About Bhirgupanth
One of the majestic Garhwal mountains, Bhirgupanth, stands majestically at a height of 6772 meters (22218 feet). The peak is surrounded by Thalay Sagar (6904 m) in the northeast, Meru Peak (6660 m) in the northwest, and Manda III (652 m) in the south.
The first successful attempt at the peak happened in 1980 by an Indian American women’s expedition led by Arlene Blum via the South Face. As time passed, many successful expeditions happened in 1983, 1987, and 1988.
Bhirgupanth is surrounded by glaciers that are a source of many rivers. Kedar bamak is a famous one, on the base of which lies Kedar tal. The tal is a source of the Kedar Ganga, which finally merges with the Bhagirath River at Gangotri. The other famous glaciers are Kirti Bamak and Bhirgupanth Bamak.They lie on the eastern side and south-east, respectively.
