About Kusum Sarovor
Belonging to the period of Lord Krishana, Kusum Sarovar is a huge tank located between Govardhan and Radha Kund. On the right side of Parikrama Path, the place is quite popular and attracts a large number of visitors.
Through stairs, you can reach a the tank, which is 450 feet long and 60 feet deep. It was believed the beloved Radha used to come here to collect flowers and meet Lord Krishana. She used to have love quarrels with Krishana while collecting flowers. Kadamba trees, which are the favorite tree of Krishana, are found all over the place. All over, the scent of flowers, namely chameli champa, juhi, and mallika, creates a beautiful aroma.
A great devotee of Lord Krishana, Lord Chaitanya, took bath in Kusum Sarvoar . In Chaitanya Charitamrita, it was stated that he takes bath in Sumanah Sarovar.
In 1675, it was a simple earthen pond that was shaped properly by the ruler of Orchha, Veer Singh. Afterward, Suraj Mahal converted the place into a more beautiful place by setting up a garden for his queen. Jawahar Singh made an astonishing sandstone structure to commemorate and honor his father, Raja Suraj Mal.
Architecture of Tombs
Numerous tombs are adorned and make to the architecture of the place. The most famous one is of Raja Suraj Mal, whose wall is engraved with pastimes of Krishna.
The other two important tombs are of Queen Kishori and Hansiya, whose interior walls are highly decorated with paintings. It throws life on the Lilaas of Lord Krishna and the lives of Jat kings.
