It is believed that Nanda Devi visits her maternal home in the dark fortnight of Bhadav and is sent away to her in-law’s house on the day of Ashtami. Nanda Devi Yatra is the journey of a well-dressed bride from her maternal home to her in-laws. The yatra is enjoyed with great fanfare by making Nanda Devi sit in a doli and giving gifts like Kaleva, Dooj, food grains, jewelry, and clothes.
