About Mahanavami Dibba
Mahanavami Dibba, also known as Dasara Dibba, is an architectural marvel that was commissioned by King Krishnadevaraya in 1513 AD. Its an elevated platform that reflects the glorious victories and celebratory spirit of the Vijaynagara rulers.
Historical Triumph
Krishandedevaray conquered the Udayagiri kingdom in present-day Orissa. He commissioned the Mahanavami Dibba to serve as symbolic stage to witness procession, war games and grandeur of the Mahanavami festival, synonymous with Dasara
Vijayanagara Architecture
Standing at an impressive height of 12 meters, Mahanavami dibba is a monumental square platform. Situated at the front and back, two ornate stairways lead to the pinnacle of the platform.
There are three layers that decorate the structure. Elaborate engravings on the sides depict scenes of vibrant celebrations, creating a visual symphony that transports one back to the splendor of a bygone era.
The lower portion showcases the merchants, royal processions, musicians, elephants, and animals, while foreign traders find a place in the narrative, immortalized in stone

Entry to this historical gem is graciously free, making it accessible to all eager to unravel the stories etched in stone within the Royal Enclosure of Hampi.
