In the Raigad district of Maharashtra, Diveagar Beach is an excellent retreat for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. It stretches over 6 km of soft golden sand bordered by lush coconut and betel nut plantations. Unlike commercial beaches, it is relatively untouched and offers a calm and clean environment. It is surrounded by Suru and Belu trees.

The drive to Diveagar itself prepares you for what lies ahead. As you leave the busy highways behind, the road winds through lush green countryside, mango orchards, areca nut plantations, and small Konkan villages. The air becomes fresher, and the pace of life visibly slows down. By the time the sea comes into view, you already feel disconnected from city chaos.

Mornings at Diveagar are peaceful and almost meditative. Early sunlight reflects softly on the water while fishermen prepare their boats and nets. Seagulls gather along the shoreline, darting toward the waves and creating a lively yet soothing scene. Walking barefoot on the cool sand during these hours feels grounding and unhurried.

As the day progresses, the beach remains calm. There are no loud music systems or commercial shacks dominating the view. Instead, there is space to sit quietly, read a book, or simply watch the sea change colors. Evenings bring one of the most memorable experiences here. The sunset at Diveagar paints the sky in shades of orange, pink, and purple, slowly fading into a star-filled night.

Food That Reflects the Coast

Food in Diveagar is closely tied to the sea and local Konkani traditions. Staying at a homestay or local guesthouse allows you to experience home-cooked meals prepared with fresh ingredients. Seafood lovers will find simple yet flavorful dishes featuring fish, prawns, and crab cooked in coconut-based gravies.

Vegetarian travelers are equally well served with local meals that include rice, bhakri, seasonal vegetables, and solkadhi made from kokum and coconut milk. Meals here are not rushed. They are meant to be enjoyed slowly, much like the destination itself.

Different Diveagar

Diveagar Beach is known for the Olive Ridley Turtles, which come here for nesting. They usually come for nesting between November and February.  If you want to experience the simple fishing coastal lifestyle, then Divegar is a perfect spot. It’s a fishing village where you can interact with locals and savor fresh seafood prepared in traditional Konkani style.

Betel nut plantations are quite famous in Divegar. When you walk around these lush green orchards, you experience the Diveagar from different angles. 

Temple Treasures

Devgar Beach is a religious place that is home to the deity Ganesh. In 1997, a pure gold idol of Lord Ganesha was discovered in the village. However, it was theft in 2012, leaving behind the temple, a revered spot for devotees.  Diveagar, apart from its natural beauty, hosts numerous cultural landmarks like the Suvarna Ganesh temple and the Sunder Narayan temple. The Survarna Ganesh temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and houses an idol with a mask made of pure gold. All these temples offer visitors a glimpse into the area’s rich heritage.  Divegar is surrounded by historical towns like Shirvardhan and Harihareshwar. Just 20 km away from Harihareshwar, known as “Dakshin Kashi,” is a prominent pilgrimage site.

Diveagar Beach is open to the public from 6 am to 7 pm. During this time, you have ample time to soak up its beauty and explore nearby attractions.

By Train: The closest railway station is Mangaon, around 35 km from Diveagar.
