About Siddara Betta
Located in the Tumkur district of Karnataka, Siddara Betta is a hill that holds religious, historical, and natural significance. In Kannada, the name “Siddara Betta” is translated to “Hill of Saints,” as it was once a meditative retreat for saints and sages. It is believed that Siddara Betta was home to hundreds of saints (siddhar) who meditated here in pursuit of spiritual enlightenment.
Granite formations have unique rock structures and boulders, some of which form natural shelters and caves. A sought-after spiritual retreat, Siddara Betta is famous for its caves. It was used by many sages for meditation. Inside the caves there are many shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman. Devotees visit in large numbers to seek the blessing of the divine.
Natural water springs inside the caves are believed to have medicinal properties. When visitors come on pilgrimage to the place, they drink and bathe in the water, believing it can heal various ailments.
Trekking
Standing at 1700 feet , it’s a quite popular place among nature enthusiasts. The journey to the summit involves a moderate 4-kilometre trekking path. It passes through a staircase , rugged stairways, and breathtaking views of surrounding villages. Trekking to the summit is considered an act of penance and devotion among Hindus. Once at the top, it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Pilgrimage Centre
Siddara Betta has a natural cave temple that is dedicated to Lord Siddalingeshwara. It takes around 45 minutes to trek to reach spiritual heaven.
Historical Fort
Adding a touch of history to the trekking experience Siddera Betta is home to a 13th-century fort that was built by King Kurangaraya.
