About Perunthenaruvi Falls
Located in the serene landscapes of Pathanamthitta district, Perunthenaruvi Falls is a charming waterfall formed by the swift currents of the Pamba River. Unlike towering waterfalls that plunge from great heights, Perunthenaruvi is known for its wide and gushing spread of waters, creating a breathtaking scene as the river flows over rocky terrain.
The name Perunthenaruvi translates to “The Great Honey Stream,” derived from local legends that the area once attracted swarms of bees.
Natural Beauty and Experience
The waterfall is set amidst lush greenery, rocky cliffs, and natural pools, making it a peaceful yet dramatic spot to spend time in nature. It is especially beautiful during the monsoon and post-monsoon months when the Pamba River flows in full force.
While swimming is not advisable due to strong currents, visitors can enjoy the sight of foaming waters, take photographs, and trek along the rocky stretches nearby. The surrounding forests add to the charm, providing opportunities to spot birds and experience the rich biodiversity of the region.
