History and Architecture

Nilkhant Mahal is an excellent architecture that is built by the Mughal governor, Shah Badgah Khan, for Emperor Akbar’s Hindu wife. The wall of the palace is inscribed with a message that tells that Mughal Akbar passed through this palace in his 44th year of rule when he was on campaign expediting on Deccan in 1599-1600 AD.

If we talk about the architecture of the palace then its northern part is open and provides a breathtaking view of the valley. The western and southern of the palace have rooms and a court hall. The fountain in the middle receives water from the southern end.

From the railway station, you can take a taxi or a local bus to reach Mandu city center. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach Neelkanth Mahal.
