Day 1: Mumbai to Pune
Leaving behind the urban chaos begins a road trip from the vibrant city of Mumbai. Fuel up your vehicles and set out on the Mumbai-Pune Expressways. As you leave behind the concrete forest, you enter the lush Western ghats that welcome you with open arms. Depending on the traffic, the journey takes around 3–4 hours to cover about 150 kilometers.
Pune is a great historical city of peshwa where you should take a pit stop and indulge in some local delicacies. Shaniwar wada and Aga Khan palace are important historical landmarks. After taking a short break, head towards the next destination, Satara.
Day 2: Pune to Satara to Kolhapur
Known for its stunning valleys, Satara is a picturesque landscape through which driving is an amazing experience. Satara is about 113 kilometers from Pune and takes around 2–3 hours. Leaving Pune behind, you can make a brief stop in Satara to stretch your legs and admire the scientific beauty of the region.
Famous for its rich cultural heritage and mouth-watering cuisine, move towards Kolhapur. It’s located approximately 120 kilometers from Satara and takes around 2–3 hours. . Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Temple and Kolhapu Chapalpal are majestic and authentic things to explore in Kolhapur.
Day 3: Kolhapur to Belgaum to Hampi
The next day, we bid farewell to Kolhapur and moved to our final destination, Hampi. It is located approximately 400 km from Kolhapur and takes around 8–9 hours, depending on speed. Along the way, you pass through Belgaum, which is attractive with its lush greenery and charming villages.
On reaching Hampi, you find yourself surrounded by the otherworldly landscapes of Hampi. Check into your accommodation and take some time to unwind after such a long journey.
Day 4: Exploring the Ruins of Hampi
Finally, the day comes when you can dedicate your whole time to exploring the mesmerizing ruins of Hampi. It’s time to go back to the days of the Vijayanagara empire. A UNESCO World heritage site is home to iconic landmarks such as Lotus palace, Hampi Bazaar, Virupaksha temple and the Majestic Vittala temple.
